Empowering disadvantaged young women in Iran

Our Center

We have 2 centers in Tehran which offer the girls a safe place to be, in which they can explore their past and transform their lives.

The Center in Tehran

The centers are schools, a place for therapy and for some, their home. The Omid Foundations welcome 120 new girls a year to the centers in two separate groups of 60. They have two, 6 month terms and each girl stays for 3 years. Some girls live at the center in the residential part whilst other go home every evening.

During the first 2.5 years, the girls attend training and educational classes and during the last 6 months, they will attend classes outside of the centers to pursue more specialized and vocational training such as accounting, IT, and secretarial works for which they will be officially certified by the relevant institutions.

The Center in Tehran

Classes are held five days a week from 8-4pm and the girls attend lessons including English, art, writing, personal hygiene and computer science. The centers are closed on Tuesdays and Fridays and on Sundays the girls attend workshops focusing on various social and personal issues.

Find out more about the center in this report written by Tiina, an Omid Angel from Finland, who describes her first impressions of the center, the girls and how the program works

This is a report about the second center written by a volunteer which shows you what goes on.
