Empowering disadvantaged young women in Iran

Behnaz's Journey

Behnaz came to the center when she was 17. She was using strong tranquilizers, and was regularly self-harming.

Her family had gone bankrupt and moved into a room above their grandmother's house. Her boyfriend moved with them, but he and Behnaz were arrested and charged with inappropriate behavior. They were both beaten whilst in custody.

Behnaz is attending art and English classes and hopes to be a graphic designer. Taking anger management counseling has been an invaluable way of controlling her anxiety.

Behnaz used to be such an angry and defensive girl, but she is thriving here and has proven to have many talents to offer. Behnaz's teacher

Our center

Mitra

We have already raised an amazing $383,000 but we still need a further $97,000 to open the new Omid-e-Mehr center. If 323 of our supporters can give just $25 a month, we'll be well on our way to reaching making our vision a reality.
